There has to be contents helping in maintaining health and having first aid, such as bandages and bandaids. Then there has to be some help for food and water. It needs to have water in sealed containers for dry areas and if the water is available it may be contaminated and for that water purification tablets have to be carried. Most common danger at the time of hiking is loosing your way and for that you need to carry some equipment regarding signaling and navigation. One such device is the whistle. There have to be some multipurpose tools also, such as fixed blade knife or multi tool knife, a heavy duty needle, and some thread for repairing clothes.
Some people have such profession or for general precaution nature, that they like to carry a survival kit all the time. Most such people like to use mini survival kits. This kit remains with the person at all the time, is suitable to all environments and is also comprehensive.
